The EMCON Leaf Wetness Sensor is designed to continuously measure leaf
wetness and provide information about the dampness of the environment
surrounding plants or crops.
Leaf wetness information can be used to support the observation and
prediction of fungal or bacterial infections in plants and crops. The
sensor is suitable for agricultural, agro-meteorological and plant-growth
monitoring applications.
The sensor uses capacitance-type sensing technology to continuously
measure leaf wetness. The sensitive portion of the sensor is covered
with a thin UV-protected coating, allowing the sensing element to be
directly exposed to sunlight.
The measured leaf wetness provides information about the dampness of the
environment in which plants or crops are growing.
Leaf wetness is an important environmental indicator for observing
conditions associated with fungal and bacterial growth on plants and
crops. The sensor continuously measures leaf wetness to provide data
that can support disease observation and prediction.
The sensor measures leaf wetness continuously. The measurement provides
an indication of the dampness of the surrounding environment and can
be incorporated into agricultural and agro-meteorological monitoring
systems.
The sensor can be connected using a long cable, enabling remote and
centralized measurements. This makes it suitable for installations where
the sensing location and monitoring equipment are separated.
The sensor can be easily fixed on a suitable platform or pole. Two
sealed nut points are incorporated into the sensor and can be used with
appropriate clamps or brackets for mounting.
The sensitive part of the sensor is covered with a thin layer of
UV-protected coating. This allows the sensing element to be directly
exposed to sunlight and supports long-term operation.
The sensor is designed for long-term operation and has a wide
operational temperature range. Its UV-protected sensing surface is
intended for extended outdoor use.
The sensor provides a linear voltage output. The output can be selected
between 0 to 5 V and 3.3 V according to the required configuration.
The sensor consumes less than 10 mA when operated with a 12 V supply.
The required input voltage is between 5 and 12 V DC depending on the
selected output voltage.
Two nuts are inserted behind the sensor body. These screw points can be
used to fix the sensor using suitable clamps or brackets on a platform
or pole.
The sensor has a small-size design and is intended for convenient
installation in plant monitoring and agricultural measurement systems.
Its construction supports long-term stability and remote measurement
applications.
The continuous leaf wetness information obtained from the sensor can
be used in automatic weather station systems for observation and
prediction of fungal or bacterial infections that may occur in
plants and crops.
The sensor can be used for observation and control of climate control
chambers and plant growth chambers where monitoring environmental
dampness is required.
