The EMCON Wind Direction Sensor is designed for meteorological observation
and accurate measurement of wind direction. The sensor provides a linear
voltage output corresponding to changes in wind direction and is designed
for long-term operation in hostile weather conditions without maintenance.
The sensor uses a unique magnet-coupled, contact-free sensing arrangement.
This design eliminates mechanical contact during signal pickup, helping
to provide long-term trouble-free operation.
The wind direction sensor uses a wind vane coupled to a magnet-based,
contact-free sensor. Changes in the wind direction move the wind vane,
and the magnetic coupling produces a corresponding electrical signal.
The sensor provides a linear voltage output for changes in wind direction,
allowing the measured direction to be recorded by a compatible monitoring
or data-acquisition system.
The sensor measures wind direction over a complete 360-degree range.
The specified measurement accuracy is +/- 2 degrees.
The zero-dead-zone design helps provide reliable wind-direction data
throughout the measurement range.
The sensor incorporates a magnet-coupled contact-free sensing mechanism.
Because the signal pickup does not rely on physical electrical contacts,
the design is free from wear and tear associated with contact-based
signal pickup.
The wind direction sensor provides a linear voltage output. The available
output options are 0 to 5 Volt or 0 to 1 Volt, with a signal output
capacity of 5 mA.
The sensor is designed for long-term use in hostile weather conditions.
Its construction is resistant to water splash and dust contamination,
supporting reliable operation in outdoor environments.
The sensor has a wide operating temperature range of -50 to 90°C,
allowing it to be used across demanding environmental conditions.
The bottom of the sensor is provided with two threaded holes for mounting
the sensor onto a suitable bracket. This allows the sensor to be securely
installed according to the requirements of the monitoring setup.
Aluminum and stainless steel materials are used in the sensor construction
for durability. The compact design has a fin length of 108 mm, a total
height of 246 mm, and a weight of approximately 300 grams.
The sensor is designed with excellent long-term stability and sensor
interchangeability. Its contact-free sensing arrangement supports
long-term operation with reduced mechanical wear.
