Water Current Meter with Direction for River/Oceans or Estuaries

Portable water-current meter designed to measure velocity and direction in rivers, oceans, estuaries and other water bodies, with direct LCD display of current measurements.
The Water Current Meter with Direction is a portable hand-held measurement system designed to measure both water-current velocity and direction. The system provides direct readings through an LCD display and can measure the average velocity of a fixed measurement volume for improved accuracy. It combines a velocity sensor using a Savonius rotor with an electromagnetic miniature direction sensor, making it suitable for river, ocean and estuary measurements.

Overview

The Water Current Meter with Direction is a portable hand-held system
designed to measure both water-current velocity and direction. It is
suitable for measurements in rivers, oceans, estuaries and other water
bodies.

The system provides direct readings of the measured parameters through
an LCD display. It combines a velocity sensor for measuring water-current
speed with a direction sensor for determining the direction of the current.

Key Features

  • Portable hand-held water-current measurement system
  • Measures water-current velocity
  • Measures water-current direction
  • Direct reading and LCD display
  • Measures average velocity of a fixed volume for better accuracy
  • Savonius rotor-based velocity sensing
  • Electromagnetic miniature direction sensor
  • Suitable for rivers, oceans and estuaries
  • 20-metre cable
  • Marine-use stainless-steel construction
  • Portable carrying case with brackets and handles
  • 25-metre nylon sensor handling rope

Measurement Capabilities

The system measures water-current velocity and direction. All measured
parameters are provided as direct readings and displayed on the LCD
display of the hand-held device.

The water-current measurement can determine the average velocity of a
fixed volume of water, supporting better measurement accuracy.

Applications

  • River water-current measurement
  • Ocean current measurement
  • Estuary current measurement
  • Water-flow studies
  • Marine current measurements
  • Hydrodynamic studies
  • Field water-current surveys

Velocity Sensor

The velocity sensor uses a Savonius rotor for sensing water current,
including low-range water velocities. It provides direct measurement
of current velocity and is designed for field water-current measurement.

Direction Sensor

The direction sensor uses an electromagnetic miniature direction-sensing
arrangement. It measures the direction of the water current over a
full 360-degree range.

Measurement Display

The portable hand-held reader provides direct readings of the measured
parameters through an LCD display. The display allows the operator to
view the water-current velocity and its corresponding direction.

Water Current Measurement

The water-current sensor provides a direct reading of current velocity
in metres per second. The system measures the average velocity of a
fixed volume of water to improve measurement accuracy.

Current Direction Measurement

The direction sensor measures the direction of the water current over
a range of 0 to 360 degrees. The measured direction is displayed along
with the current velocity on the hand-held display unit.

Portable Hand-Held Reader

The system includes a portable hand-held reader with an LCD display.
The operator can carry the hand-held device along with the sensor, while
the measured current velocity and direction are displayed directly.

Marine Construction

The sensor uses stainless steel construction intended for marine use.
The system is supplied with a specially designed carrying box with
brackets and handles for easy transportation of the equipment.

Cable and Handling Rope

  • Cable Length: 20 metres
  • Sensor Handling Rope: 25 metres nylon rope

Carrying Case

The equipment is supplied in a specially designed box with brackets
and handles for convenient transportation. The carrying arrangement
allows the water-current meter and its accessories to be transported
as a complete measurement system.

Monitor up to 32 sensor channels simultaneously, with real-time recording, graphical monitoring and wave-data analysis from a single system.
