The Savonius Rotor Type Current Sensor (Wading Rod) is designed to measure
water current velocity with sensitivity in all directions. It is particularly
suitable for applications where very low water-current velocities need to
be detected, including model-tank studies.
The sensor uses a Savonius rotor to sense water current. The sensing method
does not introduce mechanical or magnetic load, allowing the sensor to
operate with very low threshold values.
The water current is sensed using a Savonius rotor. As water flows past
the rotor, the rotor responds to the current and provides a measurement
of the water-current velocity.
The sensing arrangement is designed to pick up water current without making
mechanical or magnetic load, providing a very low threshold suitable for
model-tank applications.
The sensor provides a direct reading of water-current velocity in metres
per second. It is designed to measure current velocities from very low
values up to the specified measurement range.
The sensor is supplied with an electronic meter featuring a single
readout for current. The measurement is displayed directly on an LCD
display.
The Savonius rotor is used for sensing water current from very low
velocities. The sensor is designed to provide sensitivity in all
directions, making it suitable for water-current measurements in
experimental model environments.
The sensor uses stainless steel, Delrin and ABS plastic in its construction.
These materials are used for the sensor assembly and supporting components.
The equipment is supplied with carrying cases for transporting the sensor
and the hand-held reader.
